Fundamentals for simulations-based accident risk assessments
The estimation of the accident risk is an important task within the framework of infrastructure planning, which is carried out today with the help of statistical models. However, this model group can not make reliable predictions depending on dynamic traffic flow conditions.
The aim of the present research application is to provide the basis for an analytical modeling in order to enable a simulation-based assessment of the accident risk in the future. For this purpose, existing traffic flow models are to be expanded by inhomogeneous, dynamic traffic conditions. The driver behavior responsible for the inhomogeneous traffic conditions must be examined in a further step.
